Canada Overtakes UK as Third Largest Game Maker
More good news for the gaming industry in Canada. Yesterdays article at 1up.com reports that "the country has now topped the U.K. as the third largest video game development community in the world. According to data from the Entertainment Software Association of Canada, roughly 14,000 people are currently employed at the over 247 game companies in Canada -- a number surpassed only by the U.S. and Japan" Obviously this is great news for the future of the industry in Canada, especially for South Western Ontario, as 83% percent of Canada's games are developed between the major gaming regions of Vancouver, Montreal, and London/Southwestern Ontario. We are currently in the process of compiling our list of industry insiders that will be attending this years DIG Conference so look for that being posted soon!
